Hi,
I was too new to astrophotography to go along last time, but would certainly be keen to attend if there was a repeat of the Workshop, though I'm sure that organising a repeat would involve a great deal of time and effort.
Mike.

We always considered running a second event.
How much other interest is out there?

Just wondering if any further taught on a re-run?
If not then is it possible to purchase a copy of the course notes?

What are the intentions going forward?
I have to say that I really enjoyed attending session #1.
If I recall correctly, wasn't it always the intention that presentations etc would be available for distribution?
However, I don't think that any are what Graham would be expecting - a guide to do things.
The pesentations and walk-throughs were very good but I don't think we have soft-copy to significantly aid anyone that wasn't physically there.
Maybe we should produce such material.
Apart from slapping on backs (which were well deserved) I don't think much constructive critism was presented by the participants. Certainly I didn't - so here is my stab.
If I may make some suggestions (hopefully to regain impetus):
The Workshop was very good at giving an overview of what is involved in Astrophotography across the gamut. The different areas and the different quality in tracking requirements and associated expenses and possibly permanent set-up options. I got value from the entire shabang.
I wouldn't change this as an introduction to what Astrophotography is about in overview. A lot of thought and effort clearly went into this and it was appreciated (I believe by all or very least most). However, it lacks some of the pragmatic guidlines of "I want to do this" ABC get you started guide.
I feel that for the majority of people new (newish) to the game that a practical guide could probably be broken down into the following (candidate) groupings.
1) Webcam imaging and registax (planetary and Lunar work - cheap anyone can do it - can probably do a lot with a Dobsonion mount.)
2) DSLR imaging with a mount or that Atsrotrac thingy
3a) Monomchrome CCD/CMOS imaging
3b) RGB Bayer matrix CCD/CMOS imaging
4) Filterwheel work (rgb, lrgb, specialist filter usage)
5) Astrometric and photometry work
6) Solar work
7) Photoshop / GIMP post processing - regardless of source material.
And for 2-5 could be added collimation, focus, polar alignment, antidew, and callibartion or maybe that's a separate presentation.
We could retain current format but have distributable information on above (or alternatve breakdown).
I can contribute - if it helps - even it is to make some slides (or whatever) presentable/relevant - there's a lot of donkey work in the presentation of the material and, I suspect, its fair that support is offered here.
Some thoughts just to keep the momentum going.
And - what largely triggered this posting - do we have anything for Graham?

Thanks for taking the time for such constructive feedback.
We will consider it and see how we can proceed from here.
Here's a link to my talks:
Telescopes - Michael O'Connell
Observatories - Michael O'Connell
And Dave McDonald's:
Mounts - Dave McDonald
Imagers - Dave McDonald
Best to download them and view within Adobe Reader or similar rather than directly within google docs website.
Regards,
Michael.
