Hi!
Report from Athens, Greece:
It was an excellent night here.
Sky absolutely clear, eclipsed moon amazing.
I did it my old way and photographed it with an SLR. (Nikon, of course).
Photos taken with 10" SCT at f/10 and at f/6, with 6" Newt at f/8 and with a 200mm Telephoto lens at f/2.8, + lens and 2X converter (400mm)
72 exposures taken, 100 ASA and 400 ASA slides.
I can't wait to have them printed.
A lot of people had a wonderful night here.
Anthony was at Cape Sounion, I think.
Another group of 10 guys were some place NW of Athens, and enjoyed the event.
And from other cities, the news are good.
My feelings were strong during the event, because the total solar eclipse is coming, and I knew I was witnessing the first swirls and swings of the waltz of the 3 heavenly bodies that are going to perform their best show in August 1!
Congradulations, mjs!
Greetings!

Cloudy here in Cork too. Was clear enough up to about midnight.
Set the alarm for 2.30am and when I saw it was cloudy outside the window didn't see the point in going to the trouble of waking up properly.
Maybe next time

I just got some fleeting glimpses of the eclipsed Moon in between gaps in the fast moving rainclouds around 0310. Full cloud cover before and after, with wind and rain.
No photos I'm afraid.

Gorgeous views last night here in northern Virginia - the clouds cleared by 9pm EST. Bright southeastern limb, very dark to the north. One of the nicest eclipses I've seen.
Was fun to watch the students at the university where I work stop what they were doing and start watching the eclipse - most had been unaware beforehand of an eclipse taking place, and were very appreciative of the beauty of it as you might imagine.
