Personally I think the guy has been a great influence on so many people and has encouraged the astronomical interests of dozens upon scores of people. I also feel that there is a touch of rose-tinting on people's glasses as they look on him - just cos you grew up watching him don't mean he's any good! I am probably being a bit unfair, but the book reveals his attitudes on a few non-astronomical areas, shall we say, and I just so happen to disagree with him!

I presume he mentions politics in the book, if so its public knowledge, can you put it up here, just out of curiosity.
The way I remember him is that he was the only thing on TV anyway relavent to astronomy back in the 80s, do remember there was no discovery channel back then, although I'm not keen on the new presenter, but I still watch it.
As for the magazxine, I'm not going to bother, S&T does it for me.

Replied by dave_lillis on topic I just had to get it.
I was in a local shop yesterday and saw the magazine on a shelf, it comes with 2 CDs which include 2 1960s sky at nights, I remember reading about those particular 2 broadcasts so I just had to buy them.
Anyone else see these, the 24" scope is a fabulous looking beast, I wonder is it still there.??
As for the guy who can speak the other languages of the solarsystem, its different to say the least, great entertainment.
As for the magazine itself, its grand but its for beginners.
