Cheers Dave!
Good to see A&S prices approaching normal retail prices from other dealers.

Hi,
Just for comparison I picked a better quality Celestron telescope and mount and suppliers at random:
11059-XLT CGE 925 (XLT)
(this is a 9.25 inch SCT on a german mount)
Optics Planet
OPT
Anacortes
All $4019 = €2559 + 25 % taxes = €3200
Green-Witch
SCS Astro
All £4259 inc British tax = €5495
AI
€5,755 inc Irish Tax
I used conservative exchange rates.
Still, quite a difference for crossing the pond!
John

Hi John,
As Dave Grennan Said in an earlier post you can't keep everyone happy and how true that is. I have done a lot of work on this and with my head held high, I can say we are one of the cheapest Telescope shops in Europe Today . We may be not the cheapest but we are in the top 2 or 3. Plus all your service issues are done in Dublin and not having to ship things back and forth to the USA or mainland Europe.Think of how much that would cost if something went wrong with the scope over it life time . As I say to people pick a Scope that you will use. Ask yourself what do you want to achieve in Astronomy or do.And then buy your telescope on that bases. If it is a simple dob for visual astronomy or a GOTO for astrophotography. Every telescope severs a different purpose. And prices will change according to what scope you want.
Here is one for you all. Do you remember the Lidl offer on scopes when people opened the box and pressed the on button a lot of the scope would breakdown and people would have to send a way for parts before they even had a chance to cool down. If some of you forget or have not seen it yet here is the link www.irishastronomy.org/boards/viewtopic.php?t=5340 .The point I'm making here if that was me selling these scopes people would have been out for blood not setting up help treads just my opinion. Some may say different. It brings me back to what Dave Grennan said you just can't keep everyone happy. Some people rang me after Christmas to say how disappointed they were with this scope not working on Christmas day for there kids. And how it just in a shed getting full of dust.
