Lidl LXD75 telescope help thread

I have just been offered a spare RA motor unit.
Cant complain about that.

That's a quick result; I haven't heard back yet. Did you go direct to Meade or through Lidl's phone support?

After my phone call to Meade in Germany
(which I suggest you all make)
I got this email back from the service guy:

Dear Mr Ryan,
concerning your new telescope mount, our technician thinks a new R.A. motor will solve the problem.
It can be easily changed by loosening one hex screw at its top.
Pleas give me you postal address;
we will then send you a R.A. drive as warranty replacement!

Wont Lidle give you guys new scope? Im not sure, but think thats how it would work here

They were sold out of them in my town in 10 min.
I'm not gonna bother getting a 'fresh' pne because the odds are
the same falut will happen.

So, I'm gonna replace the motor (now that I know how!).
It's under guanentee for 5 years anyway.

I've had a look and all appears to be as one would expect - the encode wheel is clean and goes round, so it's probably in the electronics. I've emailed Meade and will be happy if they send me a new motor unit - as long as it's one that works!

I shall also keep Lidl informed - one of these scopes would be a great big letdown for a newbie who doesn't know what to expect.

Also curious that the motor unit is held on by a 3/16ths imperial allen bolt when they helpfully supply three metric allen keys none of which fit.

I've been too busy to put mine together yet, I really must get it done before the weekend is out.
