Lidl LXD75 telescope help thread

Just been talking to the Manager down in Lidl - these scopes have been recalled however he will escalate the matter to the District Manager and see if he can help me get the motor but will refund my money if we can't get it sorted.

Can't say fairer than that!

Interesting. I'll put mine together ASAP. If by some miracle it works I'll keep it but if not it's going straight back to the shop. I've only ever had reason to return a special to Lidl once before but they made no bones about it.

It's a real pity this happened. Lidl had a good run with the 'Lidlscope' and ETX specials but having a whole batch fail like that might put them off selling new types of telescope in the future. And where else will we ever get a 6" Newt on a GoTo mount for that price?

seems to be working fine so far, however, i havent put it through its paces just yet, due to weather and weddings to go to!!!!!

For the record I simultaneously went throught Meade Germany and the UK help number.
PS Of the three units sold in Clonmel, I am the only one to report a problem so far.

I'm going to try to get the motor replaced as well. Apart from the fault, the mount and tripod are so nice I'm reluctant to give them back...
