Glad that's worked for someone else! I'd like to pretend that I used a carefully thoughtout scheme to diagnose the problem, however 'experiment' in my dictionary can be replaced with 'mess with'. Well it works with the computer so it's always worth a go. As to the bones of the matter, I too suspect the factory default settings and the difference between our location. I did speak to the servce center in the UK and then called them again after my experiment, the one thing they did say was that if anything went wrong in the future, not to hesitate in calling them.

It was the same thing that happened to me, now nothing at all happens when i press the arrows or calibrate the motor. I've tried resetting the autostar but its still the same.
Would seem the self preservation lock is already on in mine, anyone think of anything i can do so i can even try peter's idea?

does the autostar light up or is it dead also? What is the slew speed as you will not notice any movement in the telescope if it is on the lowest setting as this is the tracking speed.

autostar and rest of the scope + dec motor are grand. just when i press the button nothing at all happens, calibrating just returns motor fault on screen.
Wouldn't be slew speed and ive reset the autostar which would of put it back to default.
Any other idea's keep em coming. if nothing ill just send the motor off.

Hi, I live in Portugal, and lidl ha been offering these scopes since 4th Dec, I bought a LXD75 and 5 minutes later its RA motor died on me. I went to LIDL got a second one, and it was Dead on arrival, DEC axis had a loose encoder wheel (it just felt to the ground) and the RA motor simply went berserk .The third scope I got appears to be working, but the screws that hold the finder are rusty and, worst of all, i ve lost confidence in this mount, when i make a slew I dont know if its going to work...

Ive completelly lost confidence in meade and im only keepiong the scope because of the price as I cant afford anything more expensive.

im in the porcess of writing a letter to meade and LIDL presenting these facts.

Looks like I've been one of the lucky ones with the LXD75. But this morning I was looking down the tube in daylight and saw what I think is a blemish on the mirror. The question is whether I should remove the mirror cell and inspect it more closely, and if there is a flaw in the mirror should I ask for a replacement? Or should I be happy that I've got a working heavy duty GoTo mount that will prove useful for other OTAs down the line?
