Well, there is the ITT star party, which i have often thought about heading over to. See these links:Austria's clear skies would be amazing if it wasn't for the fact that the mountains block out most of the view. But the sky you can see is the best sky I have seen in my life.

With the new Shannon to Paris connection, flights to Athens are
I use Ryanair, easyjet, airberlin on most of my European business trips through Stansted but I will give CDG a look now that there is a direct connection. I'd still be hard pressed to get 4.30 hours of flight time for €150 on low cost carriers.
You're picking some very expensive choices there.
Go take a look at Aer Lingus. They have direct Dublin - Athens flight.
Total price return with all taxes: €125
Thats for the dates 7th May - 14th May. There are other months where the flights go up, but months such as May, its €30 each way before taxes.
Of course from Shannon it's going to be expensive but if you can travel to Dublin it saves a lot of money.

I have been to Crete a few times but never the mainland. Always wanted to see Athens.

Yes, flights up to the end of May and from October onwards are relatively cheap. Cost doubles over the peak summer months.

I remember flying over them last year on my way to Italy. I have never seen anything as stunning as the snow capped mountains, glaciers etc.
