Hi everyone first post here but ive been looking at this forum for a while, i bought Celestron recently but now regret it becuase of the setup with buying products here in Ireland and not being able to buy outside Ireland
Eyepieces from Conns as per webiste EUR200
From 'Another irish company" EUR299 or EUR250 when bought with scope
Hines as per webiste £140 = EUR185 so lets allow a little extra for postage say EUR 15 so EUR200 in total
There should be fair price comparisons with other countries

Hi Ton and welcome,
As we always say here (and its no consolation), shop around before you buy and do not limit yourself to 1 manufacturer!, there is more to astro equipment then celestron.

You would have thought that with the "open market" here in the EU that you could buy anything from another EU country and get it shipped in, all legally.!
Are celestron breaking EU competition rules ?

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the post
I was lucky that i did shop around and was happy with the price (matched UK thats all ask for) but regarding any future purchases its a pity that its one brand that im now not prepared to even look at as i feel if only supplier is suppling everyone within Ireland these businesses will be forced the share their suppliers same pricing!
And as you say I really have a problem with the open market nature of it!

Aren't there European Laws against the kind of teritorial pricing we get from Celestron? Isn't that why Apple had to lower it's iTunes UK prices last week?
Can't we DO something about this. We do have a single European market afterall, at least in theory.
Bart.
